      Hey, Kari. Try to breath deeply. Expand your diaphragm and fill the lower part of your lungs, then release it and it will naturally collapse and force some air out. Then contract your abs a bit to force this area to exhale more. Practice that when you're not running. Then, when running, focus on breathing into your lower lungs to get the most oxygen exchange. You may take longer breaths (3-4 count), but you may not breathe as hard. Shallow breaths don't do as much for us as deeper ones. :)

    My First 2 mile run!! W6D3 conquered! It was a struggle but not too bad. I felt pretty good after a few mins of walking after the run.

    surprisingly it was almost as hard to do today's intervals as it was to run 1.5 miles straight 2 days ago...

      I find intervals much more challenging (and rewarding and enjoyable) than straight running. When I get bored, I just do them for a bit anyway, then go back. BTW, this ChiRunning approach is really going well for me!

    W5D2 accomplished!! didn't think I'd make it. it sucked and my lower legs r screamin but I pushed thru it! scared for W5D3 though!

    W5D1 - surprisingly after being out for 3 wks with bronchitis I was able to resume training where I left off! And it felt pretty good!

      Don't sweat your time. I still run between 10-11min miles and I've been running since '07.
