good Home to Rock Dump to Starr Hill 5 mi 01:05 12:56 pace

Fun run in the rain. Had a 5ish yr old girl jump in front of us downtown and ask if she could pet Bieli. Pretty adorable. Next thing you know, all the traveling dog lovers are gravitating over to g... read more

good Brotherhood Bridge 4 mi 54:29

What started as a slow, easy run turned into quite the adventure. Ran into and walked with a friend for a bit and then later had a de-quilling project (not my dog!) right there on the trail. Happy ... read more

Way overdressed again. Note to self: just because it is pouring out in June does not mean put on your winter running gear. Besides, it's going to clear up and be hot and sunny five minutes int... read more

Nice job, Kaili! I have a terrible time figuring out what to where when it's raining--usually it's too little or too much!

  5. RUN
    good Treadwell 2 mi 00:27 13:43 pace

Checked the calendar and holy cow- only 12 weeks until the Klondike. That got me off the couch and into my running shoes. Just enough time before softball to get 2 miles eeked out.

  6. Hey- any of my runner friends / seamstresses know how to stitch up some running tights so that they won't cause chafing? It seems that my chub rub reeks havoc on the inner seems of running pan... read more

Hmmm, I'm not sure how to remedy that situation other than somehow fuse some fleece or chamois over the seams.
Applying Body Glide or another lubricant before you put them on might help too. That is a bummer; it's frustrating when workout gear turns out to not be functional!

Oh yeah... so to be clear they were great but the stitching had just come out. I'm not sure if there is a specific stitch or sewing machine maneuver that keeps the seam flat.

Oh, I get it--sorry, I misunderstood. There is a flat seam that can be created with a machine. Ask Val Snyder at the Brown Boots Costume Company (Isn't she on your Klondike team?!) if she could do it or show you how to do it. I'm sure she'd know how!

Way to push through it! That's the best thing about running outside, you can't just walk off the treadmill and quit! No matter how fast or slow, you still did the miles!

Wow, Kaili- great work!! And you're so right about learning to run on tired legs. I remember doing my first 16 mile run while training for a marathon and realizing that the whole run was a warm
up for those last couple of miles--basically teaching my body to be on my feet longer than I'd ever been before. Great job, way to get her done!!

Yep. Time for a group fun run! Screw the traditional intervals, let's hit a trail and do fartleks. Plus, while we're doing fartleks, we can say fartlek, because it's really fun(ny) to say :o) Truthfully, I don't really even know exactly how to do fartleks, but I think they are just intervals of fast running mixed in with regular or easy pace. We can warm up, then take turns running fast for 30-60 seconds, then going easy, etc. I've also thought of doing east glacier trail and doing intervals

I hear you--check out my post from this morning! Be easy on yourself, Kaili; you've been training hard these past few weeks, plus you play softball and all of that activity adds up. You might just be tired and need a recovery week.
