  1. greatStunningly beautiful 5 mi / 00:37 07:25 pace

But enough about my groin. Have you SEEN the weather out there? :)

My first run in 5 days went well. I thought I felt the groin early on but it never came back, so I consider this a success. I'm still worried it's lingering in there so I may be cut... read more

  2. Hoping today is the last day of torture watching beautiful 60-degree sunny days float by without a run. I'll take the groin out for a spin tomorrow and see what shakes out.

Nice! If all goes well will you still be doing the 5k?

How are you feeling? Getting better?

I feel fine, thanks for asking. I've never been in pain, but I've been scared if I didn't rest this slight strain it may get worse and jeopardize my May marathon. We'll see how an easy 5 today goes.

  4. greatBikin

Beeyootiful night, so I got in some single-speedin with the little man. Then some Wii Biking. The little man likes him some bikin.

  5. Taking a break from running for a few days. The groin/upper leg strain is still present, and everything I've read says a few days' rest can help avoid many months rest later. This may cancel the 5K this weekend but that's okay -- the marathon in 6 wee... read more

Smart move, you don't want to jeopardize running your marathon. It will be tough, but take it easy for a week.

Smart move, I found out the hard way that pushing through pain is a BAD idea.
Hope the rest helps you get back on your feet quickly!

  6. alrightboring local run 12 mi / 01:23 06:57 pace

I can recall exclaiming how happy I was with a sub 7min pace 12-miler a couple months ago. Today the same run felt totally blah. I guess it's a testament to how well my training has gone overall these past few months. 5k this coming weekend.

That's amazing! Have you been following a particular training plan or something you designed yourself?

Thanks folks. Not much of a training plan Brian, just trying to get 40-50 miles each week, tempo runs and stay healthy. Haven't put in a steady 40 mpw since age 19 so I have no idea what I can do.

I tweaked something in my upper leg/groin area yesterday and although it doesn't hurt, I can feel a slight strain. So I kept this easy day as easy as possible. 5K in 10 days and marathon in 7 weeks.

Not great. This is a brutal workout as the hills are super steep, but I would have liked to have felt better. First interval workout in a while so I guess I should have expected it.
