Well I'm obviously a better trail runner than a mountain biker which really isn't saying much. Tyler State Park is a very difficult trail system (not really for a beginner which is what I am) with lots ups and downs, rocks and roots. Needless to say on Loop A I had my 1st experience with an End-Over. Yep. Going down a steep embankment with tons of roots I hit the break and the next think I saw was my back tire coming over my head. Good times. I just tucked and rolled with it. To my amazement the only thing I seemed to do was twist my left foot somehow. This is a good and bad thing. This is the foot that took me out of the running game for almost 6 months. Anyhow... I managed to get up brush the leaves off and as they say "hop back on the horse". I'm not going to lie. This did scare me and I went much slower and much more cautious after that episode. I guess this being my 1st ever Du it was a success. I finished. Was planning on running more trails after the race but after messing my foot up I decided to wait for another day for that one. Oh yeah... Mountain biking is way harder than it seems!!!

Oh no!! Glad you didn't get more hurt! You're right, mountain biking is brutal!

Sounds like my biggest fear—probably why I have never tried to mountain bike. Glad to hear you aren't injured and you were able to continue on. Congrats!

Awesome job on the trails Julie! I'm still intimidated by mountain biking.
