      I hope your foot feels better soon! Rest, ice, ibuprofin, repeat. And if it doesn't feel better see a doctor. One thing - plantar fasciitis can affect the whole bottom of the foot, not just the part that's labeled.

      My foot only hurts on the outside, so I'm not sure what the pain is from.

      Maybe it is a small stress fracture in that area. An avulsion is usually caused by a twist, i.e. that tendon that attaches at that point rips the bone. At least that is how the doc explained it to me. I got mine from basketball. A stress fracture could explain it or maybe the skin is just aggravated. I would give it a day or two and see how it shapes up. Good luck!
