Goal was to run this as a long tempo, 2 mi warmup then 7 at <157 HR. First part I was limited by legs and could not get HR up, at turn I saw that young missy Jill N. just behind Laura N. and decided I better push it a little more, amazed I caught up to Troy P. (a first, figured he had too much wine last night), kept HR in high 150's and eventually caught up to David H. with about 200 yards to go. David always kicks my arse in running events and when he recognized me he went into a sprint, I hung close enough to beat him by chip time. Happy I ran most at tempo pace. about 82 at start with noticebaly wind out of South.

It was a chilly morning in good ole Texas...Great Job!!!

Great run, John! Isn't it nice to have friends...to inspire you to catch and pass them:)

Would be a lot easier if there weren't so many fast 50 year olds. I think 6 of us beat the 1st 45-49 AG finisher.

Very impressive that you kept pace even when it was getting hotter and harder throughout the race. Great run!

Also, I saw that you hit one of your goals of a sub 1:05 for the 15k on the dailymile :-)

There are a lot of things that suck about getting old...being faster than the AG younger than you isn't 1 of them:)

I guess everybody's said did better than I could, John! And there is nothing wrong with getting older, just have to work harder at pretty much everything :-)
