good Paint Creek 50k 30.25 mi 04:52 09:39 pace

A brisk 15 degrees at the start. Lots of new powder on the trail made it tough to get good traction for the first few miles. The detours onto Dutton-Brewster-Silverbell roads were quite challenging with lots of hills to navigate on less than ideal footing. Things were a little better on the second out and back as the snow on the trail was packed down and the snow on the roads was starting to melt where there were areas of pavement. Had to be vigilant of several A-hole drivers while on the roads, which is easier said than done when the legs start hurting. This was a non-competitive fat ass run but I still kicked it in and finished 3rd. Course was a little short according to my Garmin and I briefly contemplated going out on my own to finish the last 3/4 mile but the flesh just wasn't willing. A fun time but it was a little nerve racking running on open roads with a fair amount of traffic.

Tell me, can a 50k ever really be "fat ass"? I think it should be called a skinny 50k! Great job John!
