First run after being sick for the last two days. I finally had to get back out, so I ran my speed route at a slower pace and without the fartleks. Really hot and humid.

alright CISD Natatorium 1000 m 00:40 64:22 pace
Patrick and I went to renew his pool pass and then hit the natatorium. We only had 45 mins left in the open swim and all lanes had masters swimmers in them, so we just elbowed our way in and got 1... read more

good The Woods 3.1 mi 00:26 08:23 pace
Good 5K with Boo. Had to stop once to help secure a stray dog, but otherwise was a good run.

RUN
good Fartleks for Speed Work 5.5 mi 00:48 08:48 pace
The rain finally stopped, so I got out to do some speedwork. Really humid and warm, but some of the path was under trees. I'm always glad to get these workouts over!

good Short Ride in The Woods 9 mi 00:34 15.7mph pace
Patrick and I went out for a 20 mile ride, but the rain chased us back in at 9 miles. Oh well, it was better than nothing! Really enjoy riding with him on his (rare) mid-week days off.

RUN
good Jones State Forest 10.5 mi 01:42 09:42 pace
Good long run in the forest. Didn't get started until 9, but the temp was 66 degrees. By the time I was done, it was almost 80. Glad I took plenty of water! Good to get back out and run long ... read more

good The Woods 9.07 mi 00:35 15.7mph pace
Short ride went well until my front tire got into a pissing match with a 6" diameter rock. The rock won and I had my first mid-ride tire change. Fix went exactly as planned and my new Sunglass... read more

RUN
good Cinco de Midnight 3.15 mi 00:40 12:34 pace
Patrick and I ran/walked slow to sweep the course at the end of the run. Good course, but better cold beer at the finish!

RUN
good CB&I Run 3.15 mi 00:24 07:40 pace
I still had some legs left for the run, but I tried to keep my pace from getting too quick until the last half. Gradually picked up and kicked a strong sprint to the finish.

VELO
good CB&I Bike 15.18 mi 00:50 18.3mph pace
I took the time in T1 to dry off and put on a dry jersey and jacket. That made my bike much warmer. Was held up a few times by slower riders in front, but got to race my pace for the last 5 miles.

good The Woods Short Loop 9.35 mi 00:34 16.5mph pace

good CISD Natatorium 1500 m 00:45 48:16 pace
Last swim before CB&I. Cold front is coming, so we'll be wetsuit legal on Saturday (and predicted 43 degrees air temp). Swam 100 breast, 500 free, 100 breast, 600 free, 100 breast, 100 fre... read more

RUN
good The Woods 5.5 mi 00:48 08:43 pace
Lots of humidity and CB&I on Saturday, so I took it easy and just got the miles in. Looked like it was ready to rain again most of the run.

CISD Natatorium 1800 m 00:45 40:14 pace
100 breast, 500 free, 100 breast, 500 free, 100 breast, 500 free in wetsuit. Rediscovered that putting a wetsuit on while wet is a pain, but it sure lowered my effort while swimming!

good The Woods and beyond 20 mi 01:11 16.8mph pace
Good strong ride in the heat. I wanted to go longer than the 15 mile race course (particularly after this morning's swim) to get my body used to a higher effort. Worked well and I think I... read more

good Bucket List Swim 200 m 00:05:23 43:19 pace
Clearly my slowest leg. Had to slow down and finally pass two swimmers mid way. I like the pool swims, but would rather have the 50m lanes like the Tri Aggieland.

great Bucket List Tri Bike 8 mi 00:24 20.4mph pace
Strong ride for me. I felt good coming off the swim and had a good T1 time.

great Bucket List Tri Run 2 mi 00:14:53 07:26 pace
Felt good coming off the bike, but the run was a bit of a struggle due to my pace.

Nice Job:
Great race! It must have been awesome to do it with Stacey and Patrick. I'm jealous!

Thanks! Patrick did Kemah this weekend, so he wasn't with us.
BTW...B/CS is offering a Marathon relay of up to 8. We were talking last night at dinner about doing one next year with your family and mine (plus one other person). Each would run just longer than a 5K and together we'd kick the Marathon's butt.26 days ago • Like

Is this at the same time as the main race? I was thinking on doing the full this year (hopefully, w/o the flu and bonking). If I could talk my family into doing it, I'd rather run with y'all. That would be way cool.

The race is not officially open for general registration yet, so they haven't posted any details. I'm assuming it would be at the same time. I'm already registered for this year's half, but would certainly defer it to do the relay as a group.
