Started of with Sebastian B. and Jenna B. This was Jenna's first half after havin a baby three months ago and Seb was running bare foot! The weather was perfect for the race it could not have been better. My goal was to finish 4:30 to 5:00 and take it easy through the course. I left the newcommers at 3.5 and set off on my journey through Akron. They had changed the couse significantly and took out several hills. Not to say that it was not a challenging course. The downhill run to the tow path had to be over a half mile long taking it's toll on the hips. The tow path was an awesome run from start to finish. When we came back out we had the hills yet to climb. Mile 18 will be remembered by many a runner tonight. This was the first time I felt strong on this hill. I made it a point to encourage runners along the way. Left side of my left knee started to give me some discomfort as we finished the hill. Never had that stitch before but it went away within the next mile. I finally saw sight of the 4:40 group and continued to persue the pack. I managed to stay on track as we made our way back into town. The body seemed to stay in tact in spite of a little leg calf cramping during the final miles. Finished within my goal time but pushed a little harder than I should have up the hills. Now it's time to recover and taper for Columbus.

You are a beast!! Nice job today. Enjoy the taper!

Eager to see how the course looks when I do it again next year, I'm sure the hills are still challenging so nice job mastering them and hitting the faster end of your goal!
