Sounds like you had your trike intro the same way I ot mine. Hope the shoulder gets better soon. I’ve enjoyed my Recumbent trike very much. It was fun riding in century rides watching others hobble around the aid stations after sitting on their ass hatchets for 50 Miles or better. They would watch me ride in and stay seated since I had the most comfortable seat at the park. I ride a Catrike Expedition. What are you riding?

Recumbents use a different set of muscles than an upright so there is a bit of conditioning plus the bike is a bit heavier. Besides it is really hard to stand and pedal up the hills :)

I missed the post on your crash. DANG!!! Brought back bad memories of a hard crash I had a bunch of years ago (broken ribs). Hang in there. Falling hurts but so does a heart attack from sitting on the couch. Try and figure out what went wrong. I learned to have a greater respect for longitudinal cracks.

Oh no! That's terrible! Good that you got some help getting home, good that the injuries weren't any worse, bad that it will take so long to recover. Just remember to keep taking those deeeep breaths - they hurt but will prevent pneumonia and other bad stuff.

Well that's one theory about the glasses removal making you lose time. On the counter side perhaps they made you quicker since you didn't see obstacles you would normally slow for. Great ride!!
