I'm a 37-year old biology professor. I did my first 5K run in 2010. I also joined a Master's swim team. My first sprint triathlon was in 2011, And my first olympic triathlon was in 2012. I also kayak; ski; watch birds; and do nature photography.

After a freestyle warmup we worked on my diving skills again. Oh so much better than last week. Last week was a disaster. Today I was much more confident and probably dove 30 times in 45 minutes. Coach had me start with some feet-first dives, then backward dives, then cannon-ball type dives, then twisting dives, then a backwards twisting dive. This was all to get me comfortable with hitting the water and learning to change my body position in midair. Then we got more serious and started to dive head first, concentrating on jumping high. Eventually I started to enter the water straight down and somehow somersaulted under the water. That was fun...though not exactly what the coach had in mind. I'm now at Step #2 and with one more session I think I can get to Step #3 and have a good racing dive.
