1650 event at Resnik Pool! 1700 yd

I improved a wopping 5 seconds compared to last year. Fair enough. I haven't been working out as much. I'm still in a year-long swimming slump.

great AMYMSA Masters Meet at Sewickley 950 yd

Two personal bests in 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. I came very close to setting two more personal bests in 50 freestyle (-0.16 seconds) and 200 IM (-0.56 seconds). This was the most fun I&#x... read more

Awesome! Great job Jim! That sounds exactly like me and the last meet I swam in. It's great to find that balance!

    great swim lesson 1350 yd

We worked on my freestyle turn today. Key issue: glide into the wall more, with arms at my side. Use torso to initiate turn, not arms. No pausing at the wall to place feet--just go!

I may have hurt my deltoid again, but I won't know for sure until tomorrow. Anyway, I found a workout to do. It included 8x25 no breaths on 0:40 and I was mostly successful. I also did a 200 b... read more

Hope your shoulder is going to be okay. I like that 8x25 no breaths, that sounds tough.

Hurt my deltoid muscle on Monday and had to skip swimming until now. I didn't want to overdo it today, but it seems like swimming was good for it so I'll be back at it on Monday (if I hav... read more

  8. I am thinking about doing a full Ironman in 2015. One training plan I found suggests the need for 10-18 hours of training per week for 20 weeks. I can do that. Still, it's a big commitment and... read more

Did a 650-yard warmup and then a bunch of 25 flys. I have mostly cleared up the extra kick but it came back a few times just after taking a breath. Swimming wouild be so much easier if we didn'... read more

alright AMYMSA masters swim meet 400 yd

I swam in four events and did not set any personal bests. This is maybe only the second time this has ever happened in my short swimming career, and I'm fine with it. I was distracted by a few... read more

I warmed up for 650 yards and then Josh videoed me for 4x50s IMO. No big surprises in the analyses except for my butterfly, which was pretty poor.
