great lesson with coach 1250 yd 00:45 63:21 pace

Worked on kicking after my standard warm-up. I was taught to kick like I am kicking a ball, with thigh dropping and knee bending followed by a quick knee extension to straighten the leg; then bring... read more

great first AMYMSA swim meet of season 1000 yd

Overall, I feel great about this swim meet. My level of fitness is at its peak. I set one personal best today, and came very close in two other events. The fourth event...well, let's just not ... read more

good SVC Dupre to fitness trail 4.85 mi 00:40 08:14 pace

Felt quite good. My goal was to run 40 minutes. Also, I saw my friends Dan and Geoff both had medium-length runs with a pace of around 8:00 so I wanted to see if I could get close to that. I actual... read more

alright workout with coaches 2050 yd 01:00 51:30 pace

Did a string of 100s on 1:30 and it beat me. Then I did four 125 IMs on 2:00 (with 50 yards of one stroke and 25 of each of the others). I am proud of myself that I could do that. I also did a stri... read more

  8. VELO
good Quarry to Airport to campus 12.6 mi 00:46 16.4mph pace

Had a nice ride before work. The only issue was they did the "oil and chips" treatment on about 3 miles of road, and it's the part of my route where I can normally speed down a hill.... read more

  9. walk
good construction site 1.3 mi 00:23 17:41 pace

My quads and hips are still sore from Thursday's run. Tommorrow is a bike ride--no excuses. But tonight, just a walk.

  10. swim
great Wilmerding YMCA 2080 yd 00:45 38:04 pace

Don't loose heart. Figuring out nutrition so your stomach doesn't go bad is the hardest part of long runs. Still, you had a decent pace.

That is the beauty of this web site...Misery loves company. It appears all of us had a very crappy run these past several weeks. Just remember, these things happen to keep us humble. We can use these bad workouts as a valuable learning tool gleaning insight into our own personal machines. Besides, this is a good sign. You are not peaking too early!

Ah, but to explain my work on turns, I am also on a competitive swim team, so I need to train for pool swimming, too.

Nice! You're a great swimmer. I need to learn to flip turn. It would be better than the sloppy thing I do now. At least most of my races are in open water. Maybe this is something I will practice on this winter.

    stationary bike 15.3 mi 00:45 20.4mph pace

I have found when you finally get rid of one pain, another shows up in a different place to annoy you for the next several weeks. And then again and again. Yet..we press on!
