  1. RUN
good Kennemetal to GLHS 4.38 mi 00:38 08:40 pace

Not a bad run. However, my neck is still bothering me and then about a quarter mile into my run I felt a sharp pain in the front of my right shin. I ran through it and it doesn't hurt much now... read more

  2. swim
    Keystone Lake 1390 yd

Practiced with wetsuit to get ready for tri next week. I wasn't sure of the length of the swimming area so I counted strokes. I assumed 15 strokes per 25 yards in a pool and came up with 200 y... read more

  3. RUN
good Turtle Creek Turtle Trot 3.1 mi 00:25 07:57 pace

This was my fastest 5K ever. But not by much! I had a 24:44 at the Boston Trail 5K in April of this year, so I beat myself by 4 seconds this time. The two routes were different, but both were strai... read more

  4. RUN
alright SVC Dupre to fitness trail 3.4 mi 00:30 08:49 pace

Too much food in the stomach.

  5. swim
good workout with coaches 2625 yd

We took our time with this (more than an hour but I didn't notice how much more). Lots of talking and resting between sets. I liked it, but I didn't know coaches would chat so much :)

  6. VELO
alright Youngstown to top of Linn Run 40.3 mi 03:01 13.4mph pace

If the elevation profile saves, it will show I climbed 3 mountains and several hills in between. I feel accomplished! I also feel like I could do more, which is good, since in two months I will nee... read more

Hmm, looks like the route is too long for DailyMile to show an elevation profile. So I mapped it in MapMyRide. First I climbed Chestnut Ridge (2.4 miles at average grade of 6.7%), then after some hills, I climbed Laurel Mountain (7.1 miles at a 3.7% grade). Then I had to climb Chestnut Ridge a second time to get home (3.2 miles at 4.4% grade). Total elevation gain = 4,227 feet.

alright workout with coaches 2300 yd 01:15 57:23 pace

I swam with two coaches and one recent graduate. My calves started to cramp up and I eventually had to stop at 2300 yards, right before the 25-yard sprints. I felt a little wimpy skipping out on th... read more

alright Latrobe HS 2 mi 00:19 09:15 pace

I had already done a bike-swim-bike brick so I thought "Why not?" and hit the track for a 2-mile run. The bike-to-run transition was not as hard, but I started to feel unwell midway throu... read more

I have Cayuga Lake Triathlon (olympic-length) up in Ithaca in two weeks, then Presque Isle (sprint), then my first Half-Ironman in late September at Moraine State Park. It's my 40th year. Thought I'd do something big!

  9. swim
alright college pool 1400 yd 00:45 56:34 pace

It was harder to do a bike-swim-bike brick than I thought. I felt tired throughout the swim.

  10. VELO
good Quarry to Airport to Beatty F... 29.3 mi 01:48 16.3mph pace

Wanted to get both a bike ride and a swim in today, so I stopped midway through the ride to visit the pool. I wore my tri shorts so this would speed the transitions.

  11. walk
    great Versailles 2.81 mi 00:50 17:47 pace

Walked around the neighborhood while I waited for Shannan.

  13. RUN
good SVC fitness trail and WPNR 8.56 mi 01:20 09:20 pace

I think I've got this down. I used to get stressed out about running, and that would make my run unenjoyable. Now I go into it with a calmer attitude and it turns out better! (I'm still n... read more

good college pool 1750 yd 00:31 31:10 pace

My lunch meeting went long so I didn't have time to do 2000 yards. But I came somewhat close. I actually got hot in the water.

  15. RUN
good SVC Dupre to fitness trail 4.2 mi 00:35 08:19 pace

This went fairly well. That's several workouts now that have not been miserable. I think I have gotten my fitness level back to where it was in May.

  16. VELO
great Airport hill 7.1 mi 00:25 17.4mph pace

Felt good. I worked pretty hard.

  17. swim
good college pool 2000 yd 01:06 58:04 pace

I followed a plan from the internet. Lots of kicking! Like, 500 yards of it. I am a slow kicker.

  18. RUN
    good Kennemetal Loop x2 3.26 mi 00:29 08:44 pace

I chose to run when it was 88 degrees. Why? Because there was a thunserstorm brewing and I like to watch the clouds. I was a little concerned about lightning but it stayed pretty far away. The stor... read more
