Officially the hardest race I've ever done. I pushed myself as hard as I could. My goal was to PR for the 50k distance. I knew that would be a stretch with the conditions. We got some snow early in the morning and it continued to snow for the whole race. Temps weren't too bad, around 10 degrees and the wind was mostly calm. I met a lot of great people and got to run with a lot of new faces. I really had a good time, but there was work to do. I ran the downhills pretty hard and tried my best to run the rollers. Hills are my weak spot. My back got pretty sore during the race. When it was finally time to run up to the aid station there was a little uphill - the driveway and I literally felt my body give out. I was running like a hunchback-gasping and just trying everything to make my body go a little faster. As I ran to the door to open it, I literally fell on it and stumbled in. Before I knew it I was throwing up. I was able to hold it in my mouth til I stumbled back outside and threw up in the trash can. Luckily I was running along with another man, John was his name and he was dressed in pink and black running tights with stars. He got me through the last loop. He wrote down my time for me while I threw up outside! LOL. I didn't beat my 50k PR but I ran the hardest race of my life. I ran at 100% the whole time and just barely won 1st for the ladies race - 2nd lady was a strong runner, I felt like I was being hunted the whole time! Overall it was a great day, great race and awesome experience -vomit and all :)
