Go figure -a great run - and my garmin file gets corrupted.....

Well, I'm not sure where to even begin. This was my 11th ultra marathon for the year and I'm glad I got out to run with some really great people and great friends! I felt very unprepared for this run. I was scrambling at the last minute to get things done and I ended up putting off preparing for this as well. Fuel-wise I had half a peanut butter sandwich - Hailey style. No jelly, one slice folded in half, a GU, salt tabs, potatoes, and ginger chews. I brought more Gu but could only choke down one!

Anyway, we started just after 7:00 am out on Country roads near Jen's house. We took off a little fast as we always do. We settled into a nice pace and was able to stick close to it for most of the run. There were a couple aid station stops to refuel. I left a dropbag at two of the three. It was nice to have all my stuff there. I was able to stick with Jen the whole time, which was great! We chatted and ran along! It was nice to see familiar faces throughout the run as people drove by for the relay runners.

My favorite part for sure was getting the cows riled up and having them run with us. So awesome! Amazing views and tough hills! Over time, I've learned to love the country roads so it felt great to get out there again! There was lots of fresh air (it was very breezy), beautiful sights, and good friends. Overall an awesome time! I already can't wait for next year!

Also, another fun note - I don't run the 26.2 distance often so I'm excited about this. At the 26.2 mark on this run I hit a new PR by 12 minutes! 3:43 and some change! Usually when I run ultra distances I'm on trails so it doesn't really compare to my road marathon PR. This was perfect! I could go on and on about how great this day was!!!

Thanks again Jennifer S. for another amazing run!

http://www.dailymile.com/# You and Jen are both amazing! To see you finish an ultra like that, on a windy day, then just go on as if it had been an easy bike ride or a walk in the park! I know this has taken years of dedication. Keep up the good work!
