This is the most amazing race I have ever run. The hills were freaking insane, but the sights were amazing, and to be able to run in 55 degree, breezy weather in June is a runner's dream come true (or at least mine and Duane N. 's....) The people were absolutely lovely, and they loved seeing me run in my Patriotic running skirt made by Biddi !It was amazing to be able to talk to so many runners from around the globe. This race takes place on the Isle of Barra, Scotland in the Outer Hebridean Islands. I really, really wanted to run this race because my family (the McNeills) originate from the Isle of Barra and I have always wanted to go there. Getting to run a race there is seriously a dream come true. I will say, the hill/mountain at mile 11 Called Heaval is aptly named... I was moving my absolute fastest without falling (it rises from sea level to almost 400 feet in less than a mile) and I was never able to go faster than a 15 minute mile. I will upload some pics from the run in a bit :) Here is a link to the race website that shows the elevation chart of the race.... yes I am crazy. http://www.barrathon.org.uk/joomla/

Derek my family landed in NC after coming from Scotland so, who knows, we may be kin! LOL It was amazing. I'm dying to go back. As much as it killed me to be away from my kids, I fekt at home there. I forgot to add, the course runs the entire perimeter of the island. A near perfect 13.1. How badass is that? And it's the only place in the world that has scheduled landings of an airplane on the beach.

Hahaha who knows, my Mom's side has lived in the same county since the 1700's so I was pretty much related to everyone I knew. Glad you loved it and can't wait to get there myself
