I took a stroll down along the river this morning and I noticed that they have little markers of the planets. I don't run this path much so I never noticed these before. They must be spaced relative to the distance between the planets because the first few were close together but the last couple were far apart. I thought about the way I learned my planets; My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizza pies. I thought about poor pluto and how it is no longer considered a planet. Poor pluto!
Somehow I missed the funniest of all planets; Uranus, both on the way out and back. Bummer. Oh well, that reminds me of a joke: What do the Star Ship Enterprise and toilet paper have in common? The both circle Uranus (your anus) and wipe out Klingons (cling-ons). Ha ha ha!
I followed this paved path to the end and then along a worn area next to the river for a little while before turning around. I took a slightly different route home and ran into a dead end so it ended up a little longer than I thought at the turn around but that was ok because I got to tresspass to get back to the road home.
Anyway I tried to keep the heart rate comfortable and think I did ok. Avg HR was 145 @ an avg 8:55 pace.

That is such a cool idea! All you see on the greenway where I run is dog crap, screaming babies and their smug mothers who act like they are the only ones that know how to get knocked up. Sigh.

Excellent interplanetary exploration run, Star Fleet Captain Big Red Machine. Sounds like a great way to start of the week...way better than hanging with the smug mothers who are so proud of their ability to get knocked up.

Jeremy, it's ok! I snicker like crazy when people say Fartlek (or worse when Ryan spells it FartLICK - ewwwww) and my older three kids all start to snicker when we're talking about the planets and THEY start in on the "You're Anus/Uranus" jokes!!!!!! It's a never ending cycle of silly!: D

Nice run, and interesting commentary. You should have heard some of the potty humor in the OR during my med school rotations. Surgeries where you have to wash your hands AFTER you perform surgery . . . yeah, it's nasty. However, it usually makes people laugh. ;)
