Well I ran with dates, gatorade, and ate 3/4 banana along the way too! No water and no gels and I felt better! Real food is great! Had the water and gels but didn't feel the need. And no upset stomach and I think my pace was strong and steady the whole time! Yaay!!!

I tried dates-they work great...but gave me intestinal difficulties-had to give them up.

Oh no! That's what I'm trying to avoid! When I ran the ATB 30 there were 3 times in the last 8k maybe that I had to really focus on not throwing up. I figured it might have been the gels/caffiene. I seem ok on them for the half distance but the 4hr run threw me for a loop! If only I were faster and could fuel less! Ah to be Kenyan! lol Thanks Becky. I will practice with them some more to be sure they are ok before race day. :)

Despite the psycho dogs I'd still say you had a very successful run. :) Way to go! Next weekend's run will be much more fun; you'll have company for the whole thing. :)

Thanks guys! Terrifying is a good word for it! The things that we have to contend with to get the job done! I'm looking forward to NOT running alone next weekend...even if my partner is gonna push me hard! lol

Achilles troubles again. Hope this won't be another major setback. Too long on the treadmill for me. It was truly a dreadful run.

That's what I was thinking too Paul, at least hills are in the beginning, unlike Around The Bay which beat me up at the end! And thanks Shawna!!! I am going to try and smile and enjoy every inch and take it all in. I always wish I had a recorder to record my thoughts at different spots, I have a hard time remembering a lot of them after the race!
