OMGGG I almost called this off because of very little sleep and too much wine but I felt like a million bucks. Casey and I met up with Jeff F., Matt B., Richard P., Brian A., Rebecca B. and Jim--all having varying distances today. After a trip to the arch (where I may or may not have accidentally peed on myself after a failed hover behind a shrub), Rebecca and I dropped the group and headed into Forest Park for a loop. She was done at 17 and I had 22, so I went on for another loop after a quick hi after running into Casey.
Did the same run last week and suffered.every.step. I kept waiting to hit the wall, to get to that point where I was just done. Legs felt super great, never heavy or tired--only issue was a side stitch that stuck around for ooooh, 18-ish miles. I blame the vino/dehydration.
Definitely a negative back half with last 6 sub 9. Felt like I had to hold back to have the slow, steady pace the plan called for. GORGEOUS weather today--61* with a breeze. THIS is the weather I've been waiting for. For the first time in a long time, I wanted to run, run and keep running. Oh yeah! Around mile 18 I was passed by a lady but she wasn't getting any farther ahead of me, so we ran together for a few miles--great to have new company to distract from the finishing miles. Invited her to Daily Mile, too. ;)
