great LA Mararthon 26.2 mi 03:51 08:48 pace

LA Marathon went great! Despite the rain and my new Garmin 110 (birthday gift from my coach) getting a little bit sassy with me at the start. I went out at a 9 minute mile pace and stayed there (patiently) until about mile 11 and then I turned it up to 8:30. When I was ready, around 15 or 16 I cranked it up to around 8:00 minute miles and just thought of my dm friend Angie (you have been an inspiration! thanks girl!). At the 20, I had already hit sub 3 so I just finished it to go under 4. Finished strong and hard. Garmin splits to be added after I figure out how to load them up.

Nice Job, Jen!! SOOO happy for you. Sounds like a great run. Looks like your patience (and all that hard work) certainly paid off!! So impressed that you were cranking out 8:00 miles at that point in the race. STUD!! BTW - I have the Garmin 110 (LOVE it!!). I think if you just get it connected to your computer, it will ask you if you'd like to upload to garminconnect.com. That is what I do - then I copy and paste the link to DM. Way to go and your awesome marathon!!! So....what's next???

Wow, you actually had a game plan for the race. I felt good for the first half or so around 8 min/mile, but started slowing down...a lot! I always do that, never pace myself..Sounds like holding back in the beginning really helped you at the end, very smart. Rain was intense too!

thanks everyone! I told my coach I'd like to take a few weeks off from training and play my guitars and drums...June is the San Diego Rock-n-roll marathon, but I think I'll get a couple of half's in before that. Angie, looking at the Boston Qualifying time and wondering if I should start making a plan for that kind of training?
