I decided NOT to do this at my normal 6am hour due to the monsoon and 40 degree temps. Waited it out till about 2:30, and wow, it was perfect! Couldn't have asked for better, sun was bright, high 50s. I should have run this around a 9:00'ish pace, but when my plans were thwarted to an afternoon run, my window of time was more limited. I wanted to get home by the time the boys were waking up from their nap & had to get a lasagna in the oven for the game :) So, the pace was pushed just a bit harder than it should have for a final LSD before my race. Hal would have been shaking his head, lol. Splits: 9:06, 8:57, 8:43, 8:36, 8:40, 8:45, 8:47, 8:56, 8:48, 8:44, 8:41, 8:39, 8:40 (last .20)
The first 7 miles felt effortless. Besides having to dodge traffic, pedestrians, and road construction (treacherous footing) in downtown Newburyport, it was awesome. The remaining 8-12+ had many gradual uphills, and my legs were feeling it. Lungs felt great, but legs were just sore, which I gather had to be from the tempo run yesterday. All in all, though, a great run, very happy with it :-)

You should be happy w/this one! Really nice improv skills to get it into the window you had available. Pushing the pace a bit made it possible, so that's probably allowable :) Glad things are feeling so good!

What's wrong with a 40 degree monsoon morning? I mean, I ran in it and was perfectly fine aside from the hypothermia and nearly passing out! Seriously though, great 12+....you will do great next weekend!

Susan did it, I did it. 40 degree monsoons make us stronger...well until pneumonia sets in anyway. BUT THATS NOT THE POINT...lol. Awesome job Jen...you're gonna rock it!

@Rick and Susan- really, I wouldn't have been such a wimp, but I'm trying to be super cautious w/ two Half's coming in the next few weeks...I don't want to pull a Rick and wind up with bird flu (or whatever it was you had, haha)

You are going to crush your half time at Baystate. Mark my words. That speedy, after a 5k PR yesterday? Believe in yourself, girlfriend. You got this.

Really big long run a week out from your half but you hammered it ... taper a tad so you can bring your A game 'cause I am counting on you delivering a shiny new PR next Sunday! Strong effort today! Oh - and Karen is so correct ... believe in yourself ... run smart and don't burn it up in the first half of your half but then let that fantastic training work!

Thanks all! @Jim, yeah, the Hal programs call for a 12 the week before...but major taper time this week. My Thurs run is a whopping 2 miles, then 2 days of rest before the big day!

That's a great run and an awesome pace! I don't know what your half PR is right now, but you are going to destroy it next weekend. Enjoy the taper!

Sounds like the cars chasing you made you run faster. I know we are running out the daylight these days I am already looking forward to Dec 31st the shortest day of the year for sunlight.
