great UNOFFICIAL 5K PR :-) 3.1 mi 00:24 07:47 pace

Plan called for a 3M "race pace" run today, a lead in to tomorrow's 12 miler. I had no plans of running for time, simply just to push and perhaps have 1-2 miles of sub-8's. Well....3.1 mi later, I looked down at my watch and realized my time was 24:10, which unofficially beat my 2011 5K PR of 24:23. And had also improved from my last 5K in September which was 24:42.

So, unofficial as it is, I'll take it...to me it's not so much about the time on the watch, but the confidence boost I needed. I've not had any PR's this year so far, so I was really unsure that my training was paying off. What was most surprising was looking at my splits, and remembering there were really no moments during this run where I felt gassed, nauseous, or wanted to quit. Perhaps if this was a race I could/would have pushed even harder :-) 7:52, 7:56, 7:38, 7:30 (last .10)
