  1. RUN
    13 mi 01:30 06:55 pace

Solid run on the trails to kick start Memorial Day weekend. Finished up the last 11 minutes with 5x30" pick ups probably around 5min/mile. Besides some quad tightness and that higher gear I us... read more

  2. RUN
    7 mi 00:51 07:17 pace

Man, what a difference a day (and a cup of coffee!) makes. Felt great with just a little bit of soreness in the left hip flexor. Added 4 strides at the end of the run to loosen up a bit.

  3. RUN
    8 mi 00:58 07:15 pace

I just realized why I felt terrible today: zero caffeine! No wonder I was sluggish and cranky....

How did you even make it out the door??? At least it's an easy fix!

Chris - love your comment about cults wherever you look. Any good runner/coach has elements of everything in their plan. As Brad Hudson says, "Everything matters." You can't focus too much on one thing.

Thanks Jason. Sorry for hijacking your DM post. Your article was probably better forum for this. Something to keep in mind regarding the cult-like behavior, in whatever form it appears, is that often the 'creators' aren't true believers. It's a marketing scam. The true cult are the followers, who have gone all in.

Woof - this was a tough one. With yesterday's "faster" run and still being in the thick of the recovery process, I'm not surprised...

  5. RUN
    8.3 mi 00:59 07:06 pace

I'm just about back to normal! Felt good, no soreness, could actually push a little without anything acting up or extra effort. Ran 8+ to make up for a run that was less than 5 yesterday. Now ... read more

  6. RUN
    4.7 mi 00:49 10:23 pace

Successful first run with the Rock Creek Runners! Only a few stumbles but no falls :) I think this loop was longer than 4.7 though - 10:20 pace seems slow for what we were doing... Any DC/MD/VA fo... read more

Nice group run! I may need to look into that, I could use the extra motivation!

So....I ran faster than my coach today. Of course, my run was flat and obstacle-free and you were running trails with a group. A couple of the clubs down here in Jax are finally talking about forming some local trail groups.

It's always a big question for me after my training, how do I put it all together on race day! Thanks!

  8. RUN
    4 mi 00:29 07:19 pace

Easy 4. Thankfully feeling significantly better than earlier this week, but not even close to 100%. But the silver lining: day 4 of my run streak!

  9. RUN
    7 mi 00:51 07:17 pace

Woof, this was tough. 26.2 miles do a lot of damage...

  10. RUN
    5 mi 00:37 07:24 pace

Another slow run to continue the marathon recovery. Legs felt more sore than creaky, which is a good thing. No ITB issues!

  11. RUN
    4 mi 00:31 07:37 pace

Easy run on the treadmill to test out the legs. Right hip flexor is a little tight and the left ITB needs some TLC, but otherwise feeling decent only 8 days post-marathon. After some body maintenan... read more

    2 mi 00:15:00 07:30 pace

    Taper madness!

  15. RUN
    5 mi 00:34 06:47 pace

This easy 5 turned into a more moderate effort because I felt really good. Threw in 4x20" pick ups during the last 1.5 miles.

  16. RUN
    7 mi 00:49 07:00 pace

Easy/moderate 7. Nothing special to report except the Copperhead I almost stepped on in the park...

  17. RUN
    10 mi 01:07 06:40 pace

Last "workout" before the marathon this weekend. In the middle of the run ran steady-state (probably around 6:15 a mile) for 20min. Otherwise, everything was easy. Now I'm in the hom... read more
