Forgot to log this on Tuesday: back in the Asics (the Newtons are a bit too worn). Ate a bit of those new Gatorade Prime bars about 20 minutes before the run, gave me a (most likely psychosomatic) ... read more

Borrowed a friend's Newtons. Wow. These are not shoes; they are Weapons Of Speed. Might have to invest in a pair. Work and life have sidelined me for the past two weeks; need to get back in th... read more

RUN
alright 00:20
Visiting family and biz travel derailed my normal schedule; back running after 7 days off. Twenty minutes 'round the canyon trail after a week off. Then push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups.

RUN
blah 2 mi 00:20 10:00 pace
Scorcher outside. I'm hitting the wall waaaay too soon. Need to either run in the early AM or in the evening; too used to oceanfront weather, these 80+ temps are killing me.

RUN
good 2 mi 00:20 10:00 pace
Did a combo of trails/pavement. Shoes: Nike Free 5.0; have about 175 miles on them, feel good on the hard surface, not so much on the dirt.

A friend of mine has a pair of those and they KILLED her calves, so take it slow to start out!

Prior to my current pair of Asics (forget the model, but they're for neutral runners) I was running in Nike Frees. So I had a bit of calf pain, but not much. The Newtons are siiiiick. (And pricey.)
