That was a fun run I was incorporating what's his faces run walk run and I sped up each split the last mile was 9:40 average woot! I experimented with how I swing my arms too from my natural kind of small circles to parallel front to back. Front to back felt smoother and I sped up which also sped up my heart rate so I had to keep slowing myself down. Seems like I'm getting closer to a smooth natural cadence with my feet as well but only maybe 1 minute out of the whole run but that minute felt smooth and f

I made it, agonizing shin pain as soon as we started I think from a really tight calf and concrete side walks but it turned out ok.

See my previous comments about active stretching, also make sure you are hydrating well. My calfs goto crap when I don't drink enough water (or to much coffee). Feel Better and we'll get together for some runs soon.

  11. I'll have to try setting runmeter up for distance intervals maybe? Stopping and starting it last night was really confusing. Ran a mile warmup then 2x up a big hill by the house. The first run... read more

I'm doing the 30 week personal best plan and to meet the 6 may 2012 marathon were going to have to cut out 2 weeks in there somewhere. I'm modding it slightly incorporating the jog 3 minutes walk 1 minute on the long runs. I'm going to post how it's going and any changes made to it like the jog walk cycle.

I do the run/walk stuff myself for my longest runs - I think its a great way to do the long runs because it really helps reduce injury and keeps recovery managable. I even took a walk break every mile on my marathon the other week - felt silly at mile marker 1, but I still did it.
Good luck, and keep it up!
