      Good point James :) I think you just need to take it easy BUT you should be progressive! That means SLOWLY increase the distance and, after making sure you know WHY you had the heart attack, MAYBE some intensity. Let's face it - it's GREAT to be alive!

      Now's the time to get back out there and take it easy. 30 sec run /30 sec walk would be a great start - It's how I started running a few years ago and I really worked for me.

      It's never over! I blame the weather for the breathing problem. It's been really hot here lately and I've been having some problem breathing too.

      Penrhyn / Mas - getting a heart attack scared me shitless, now I will exercise regularly and watch what i eat and quit smoking permanently and reduce my drinking drastically... scared stiff man :)

      James, following on after your comment about the plan. I suggest you use the Runners World website for a free plan. I understand the logic of your current approach but I think it unlikely that it will help you get faster.

    Soreness from running 20km race on sunday gone. Just taking it easy and having a slow run. Tomorrow try to increase mileage again. Saturday do 10km, sun also 10km

      Penrhyn - no plan, just increase mileage, done 25km, next month 27km, every mth increase 2km. run >25km long run every week. rest 2-3days and next 4-5 days run 3-6km per day and sat run >25km
