great Ventana Canyon Trail in Tucson AZ 10.05 mi 02:49 16:48 pace

This was an awesome run. I went out planning to only run a few miles on Ventana Canyon Trail, but found a new view around every corner. I kept heading through the canyon and up the mountain. The pace was slow, but the effort level was insane! It took me an hour-and-a-half to make it five miles into the canyon. At this point my legs were feeling it and I realized I had forgotten a gel and my fluids were almost half gone. My ascent had already passed 5400 ft and the trail was just now starting to climb "steeply" towards the ridge (click on the elevation profile above!). This was a very difficult 10-miler, but I could run here everyday for years. Pictures to follow...

Running the hills around here will feel like nothing after running up a mountain! Impressive.

Great photos! It must have been difficult to run without stopping to snap your picks.

Keith, my pace was so slow that it was easy enough to snap them on the run, only the downhill picks are a little blurry! No seriously, I did stop to take the photos... My time shows it. I also took a few photos on a walk with my son the day before. We hiked in about a mile just so I could find the trailhead and get a feel for it.
