Haha--that's fair. I usually sing songs or factor the number of the lap I'm on or do sets (from www.mvm.org, often) to keep it interesting. :)

alright SNAKE!! Town Lake 4.23 mi 00:36 08:26 pace

I've seen water moccasins (poisonous) and what people call "water snakes" along this trail. Honestly, I can't tell the 2 apart especially when it's dark out. When I was a kid living out in the country my little brother got bit by a copperhead (another poisonous snake around here) and it was terrible. I love all snakes but... from a distance.

I have seen a black and yellow one on the trail once, and it scared me. I went home and found he was something innocent, but the guy I was running with at the time, shoved me at the snake! So...hate snakes on TL.

Also, for the record, I don't get how people run so far. My goal today was to run for an hour and forty minutes. At about 1:15 I started to go crazy. I just kept thinking of all the food I was going to eat after this run was finished- migas, biscuits, chocolate pudding, beans, cottage cheese. It's hard. I have mad respect for all you out there that can run for this long.

I eat the GU's on 16 miles or more, but they really don't do much to satisfy hunger. I eat them so I don't crash/hit the wall half way through the run lol. Normally if I eat a filling breakfast like oatmeal beforehand, I don't even start feeling hungry until the end. And then it's just like Marlene said.. pushing through those last miles so you can eat all that food you're dreaming about! :)

Try Vespa. I don't like GU's and Rogue doesn't really recommend them. You take one Vespa before you go out on your long run and then another every two hours. I usually only need one then on a long run. I really think it works well and doesn't give you the sugar high/crash.
And I think that for everyone, we ALL dream of what we get to eat afterwards. It usually happens to me in the final 2-3 mile range.
