Stretching for speed? You're wasting your time.

1 person liked what Hugh said-
Interesting to see a study behind this, but alwasy figured stretching was supposed to be for injury prevention, not speed. It was interesting to note, too, the hypothesis of dynamic stretching simply fatiguing some of the neo-runners.

I've been doing some dynamic stretching before track exercises/events, and I can see how it can be tiring and less effective for speed. I don't do dynamic stretching before a long distance race.

I usually do some butt-kicks and knee-lifts headed in and the occasional foam roll afterwards...that's about it. But I am also lazy.

Hmm...well, maybe you should wait and see if you're still pain free next week and in the 2nd week of February before consenting to anything. After all, you know your body best. I'm glad to hear you're planning to take it easy and continue the conservative treatment though--that sounds wise.

Ultrasound of PF showed .53 on both feet. That's about twice normal so inflammation or I've got brass fascia. Doc ordered an MRI to see the extent of the tearing wh... read more

So lame NBC/Universal didn't broadcast the trials live. What, it's competing with bowling and lawn dart finals at 8 AM?
3 people liked what Hugh said-
Well Hugh, unless you have DIRECTv, most people don't even get the channel anymore. I've voiced my complaint with COMCAST and the excuse is that COMCAST and Universal Sports are in negotiations at this time. COMCAST owns 51% of NBC. Also, the new NBC Sports Network will not show any track and field and marathon majors! Hopefully, someone other than myself will voice their frustrations!

Haha Sharon...yeah saw that. Interesting that they divided the strikes by heel and fore when in reality there are very few forefoot strikers. Plenty of mid-footers though of which I am one.
