Windy and I thought I was faster. I also feel bad because I ran over a snake :(

Head/crosswind the whole way, but still nice. Still lots of flowers.

great G To H 5.1 mi 00:25 12.2mph pace
Whole bunch of turkey and some birds beating up a squirrel. Add in the other (foot and bike) traffic and it was a pretty eventful ride :)

I realized today that I've not seen any bees on any of these flowers :(

great H To G 5.13 mi 00:23 13.1mph pace
Forgot to stop the clock when I got to work. Also Iowa, I know the grass needs to be cut along the bike trails but maybe wait a bit longer while the wildflowers are in bloom?

Bit of wind but not too bad. A lot of pretty flowers blooming on the way. Listening to my freewheel reminded me why I have a fixed gear bike. Back on that one next ride!

Back on this now... My road bike needs help! Ghost shifting like crazy. I've tuned and retuned the derailer but it always goes wack again. The exposed drive from Reno to Omaha in December put a slo... read more

Jeremy, sounds like you need to replace your chain. I start to get ghost shifts at about 2,000 miles on my 8,9 or 10 speed road bikes. I replace cassettes after 2 chains.

Thanks Joe, that was my best guess as well. It's over 2k miles and there's no excessive wear on the cassette that would cause the slipping. I'm not a pro but I can index and since that's failing it's time for a chain. I know it's past due but I'm always hoping to fix things cheap.

Glad to see you are back riding again. Just remember that trying to get too many miles out of a chain can mess up your rear cogs as well as your front rings. The SRAM chains with the power link are really nice. Makes for quick chain removal.

Now that you say it, I haven't either. Are you gardening?

No, riding past wildflowers by the river. I remember many many bees in the same places from my youth but now that I've been made aware of the absence I'm not seeing them anywhere
