"zone 2 training does not work instantaneously, you MUST have patience, this WILL pay off". Ugh. Had a great long run-intervals of 20 minutes zone 2 followed by 3 minutes hard for 1:47:00. However, the zone 2 part left me feeling like gra... read more

Hey, watch what you say about grandmas, I beat every age group down to the 30-34yr-olds yesterday!! :-) (There weren't any 35-39's so I don't count them....)

  2. Happy weekend dailymilers! We've had a rough 48 hours here in the G-T household, sick babies are no fun! Alas, it's a blue sky, 75 degree day...I'm taking the boys to the beach to wear them out, and then popping them in the jogger for some barefoot bea... read more

It was about 2 miles into my run, at about 2:45 pm, that I realized I haven't eaten a thing since about 10:30 a.m. Not a good idea, as unlike the energizer bunny, I need to eat about every hour to keep going and going. I felt like a slug dragging mys... read more

  4. SICK. ESPN talkshow host Tony Kornheiser advocates running down cyclists. "And so you tap them. I'm not saying you kill them. I'm saying you tap them. Tap them once" Hear it for yourself here : http://blogs.liverpoolecho.co.uk/acyclistslife/... read more

This is just sickening. I already have people yelling at me, throwing stuff from their cars at me, and swerving at me so the last thing I need is someone trying to "tap" me because some ass at ESPN suggested it.

I sent a scathing email to 'ESPN 980 Management' that this jerk should not be representing a sports minded network.

It doesn't help that there aren't shoulders where I live. It's bad enough when I go running, but even worse when biking. Drivers are crazy enough already with their phones and other distractions.

It was hard to keep my heart rate in zone towards the end without slowing down. Feeling lethargic still, but I did the darn thing =)

  8. oh wow, I've heard of the safety issues of running with an ipod, but this is a new one...runner on the beach (just south of here! ) killed when hit by a plane that he didn't hear coming because of his ipod. Really what are the chances? Such a sad story... read more

Although it can be dangerous to run with earphones, the plane lost power to it's engine. It was gliding. No noise. Poor guy probably wouldn't have heard it regardless.

  9. LOVE my Nike free 5.0's...but considering a pair for 7.0's for the longer distances. Thoughts from any nike free runners out there?

    • Candice C. Candice C.

I can only run in Frees, whether short distance, long distance, or trail distance. My feet just don't like anything else :0) its been years now

Thank you Kelley! That's good to hear, and that's what I'm going to do. I guess if people run barefoot marathons there is no reason I can't run a marathon in the frees!
