My mojo has been up and down this fall and this race really gave me a boost to get back going again. Outside of the wind, the weather was perfect. Happened to run into Marie P. who paced me for the 1st 3 miles. Wanted to make the race a training type run and not push too hard. We started slow and by mile 3 I was into a pretty good groove which I managed to stay in until mile 6 and the turn to the board walk. The head wind was pretty stiff but I remained focused on keeping my level of effort constant vice worrying about keeping my pace. Even so my AHR and MHR were still elevated. Once off the boardwalk, I picked it up with some pretty good and made the last mile my fastest (9:16) with a strong kick to the finish. Wasn't able to hang out for as long as I wanted to. I had to get to the sportsplex to watch Sophia kill it playing field hockey. It was good to run into Bill and Marie P., Rhoda Carroll and to chat a bit with Ryan C. before I had to call it a day.
