I want to brag about my cousin, Will Busse. He won a marathon at the Waushara Fair Grounds in Wisconsin. His finishing time was 2:59:59! An average of 6:52 per mile! What a stud!

  4. swim
great Kids in the Pool 2500 yd

Jimi had a couple buddies spend the night, so went to the HS for a swim. Rowan lost his suit early on in a bizarre "dad throwing small child in pool" incident and never put it back on.

  6. swim
good 2 hrs at Open Swim 4000 yd 01:30 39:35 pace

I pushed the distance because I had 2 hrs vs the one hr lap swim I usually do. The last 500 was tough. Swam with (actually far behind) a couple of the swimmers on the HS team.

OK, so I'm not much into math, but looks like we've only got 780 miles between us Damon, so if we leave now at 9 min./mile pace, we can meet up in about 43 hours. Go.

Bummer about the ITB. I had that real bad a few years ago. Are you finding some stretches that help?

I did some warm-ups and stretches that seemed to help... come to think of it, I think you sent them to me! They did work, but I haven't done that pre-run ritual yet. I think I will before my next run.

In the end, one of the best things for me was foam rolling. I 'graduated' up to using a wooden rolling pin eventually. That REALLY stretched those little bastards out. Haven't heard a peep from them since. :)

Just read this (http://goo.gl/aVqdA) about stride width. Mentions ITB. A little longish, but interesting. I like the sidewalk drill, and can relate to the single-track narrowing issue.

You're such a softie (who can swim like a spearfish and run like the wind). Yeah, he who dishes the spearfish must take. Even if he's a shirt-wearin' aerobic-movin' water-walker. If I ever find myself in that category, after I ask you to kill me, I'll choose my dish targets more carefully. Like maybe a lamp, for starters...
