great Thanksgiving: Who’s Racing? 8 mi 01:11 08:51 pace

(4:30 AM - 44° - Crisp, Clear)
This week is my local Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon. According to Runner’s World Magazine, Thanksgiving has replaced July 4th as the largest racing day of the year. I’d like to know who’s racing Thursday and the place & distance.
What life hands you is not nearly so important as what you do with it.

Hi Darrell, I wish you the best in the local race. I haven't signed up for anything but will still run. Sometimes I sign up the last minute :) There are several races going on in ATL.

Hi Darrell. None for me lately. My last Half was in Summer this year. The RW Thanksgiving Half does sound like a really great one. I wish I am closer to signup for this one😔

We don't give thanks in Europe. Not because we're not grateful, but because we didn't need saving by the locals when we went on a transatlantic voyage without essential supplies or know-how.

I'm doing a 5k. I have done an annual 5 mile Turkey Trot for the past 7 years, but this one is a new race in town so I thought I'd try it out! The other one has gotten so big, and normally I like big races, but it seems to chaotic. So we'll see how this goes. If I don't like it, I'll go back to the other one next year. Good luck with yours!

We had our thanksgiving a month ago, ours is basically a harvest festival and not the immense production of down South. However, many of the trappings have come to resemble yours. Have fun at your race! I don't have anything planned myself except the usual local run.

I'll be visiting inlaws and am very tempted to find a race that morning just for fun. Aaaand, North Carolina is flatter than VA so I could get a new PR out whatever race I run. I think I'm talking myself into this one. Nice miles this morning.

I'll be participating in a family organized Turkey Trot 5k in Hudson, WI this year. Past years have always done one of the organized races in Minneapolis or St Paul, MN. This year I setup a 5k for family and fiends to run from my niece's new house. As far as I know Hudson doesn't have an 'official' Thanksgiving Day 5k, so maybe it will catch on. If it does I'll have to move the start, my neice's driveway is not that big. :)

Atlanta Half Marathon. Tough, tough second half of the course. It was my first half marathon back in 2005.

hey darrelll...we are running a 10K turkey chase in bethesda, maryland. it's a big one with kids of all sizes and different kinds of turkey hats—some with birds before they've been cooked and some showing the toasted poultry. : ] we look forward to it each year and to our traditional la madeleine [french country] breakfast after it. happy thanksgiving!! thankful for friends just like you.

People figured out that racing in extreme heat is, well, hot! Nice 8 Darrell. No planned racing for me until the MLK 5K in January.

No Thanksgiving race for me - family here, cooking, playing with grandkids. If Thursday isn't my rest day, I will be on my treadmill very early in the morning.

I am running in a race, but not "racing" due to injury, the Zoom Turkey Trot 5k at Hellyer Park in San Jose, CA. I've run it the last couple of years.
