  4. RUN
Windham rail trail 0.47 mi 00:06:00 12:41 pace

The tail end of my MAF test run. Just a bit more than the 7 miles I needed.

  5. RUN
    MAF test week 4 12:46 6.93 mi 01:27 12:35 pace

The Windham rail trail was slushy/icy going with occasional stretches of nice dirt shoulder, but I'll count this as my first MAF test. I'll repeat future MAF tests on the same course for ... read more

  6. RUN
Derry rail trail 6.64 mi 01:30 13:33 pace

MAF week 3. Snomobile packed snow with ice/pavement at the north end before turning back. Good for screwshoes as long as the pace was slow.

  7. RUN
Maffetone screw shoes 5.02 mi 00:52 10:22 pace

I'm finally on board with heart-rate training. I need to train my aerobic base or I'm just going to be struggling with anaerobic burnout when racing. I planned 5 miles, but the next step ... read more

Great plan, Gil....I've been training using Maffetone plan for over 12 years, other LHR plans before that. it works, keeping you as healthy as possibly, yet you race well, too. After several months of "just" LHR training, add in a tempo day and you'll do great.

  8. RUN
    Neighborhood run 6.04 mi 00:53 08:43 pace

Left work early to squeeze in a run before picking up the kids. Not enough time for a trail run, so I settled for the road.

  9. RUN
Ice, dirt and rocks 5.65 mi 01:01 10:42 pace

Night run at Massabesic Audubon trails. There was barely enough snow/ice for microspikes. Yax might have been a better choice. The temp was a mild 42, but for some reason I felt sluggish. Maybe I d... read more

  10. RUN
    Neighborhood 9.01 mi 01:21 08:57 pace

Springy paved run around the neighborhood on my Altra Olympus. I added 2mm foam under the footbeds with 1st ray cutouts...I think it felt better... The Garmin 305 battery just about died on a full ... read more

  11. RUN
    Dreaddddmill 5 mi 00:42 08:28 pace

    I hate this thing. Must...get...outside...!!!

  12. RUN
Night snowshoe run 4.2 mi 00:44 10:27 pace

I have 2 GPS watches and they were both dead. Too cold to fumble with my stupid phone app. Distance is estimated. Took off the snowshoes around 2.5 miles due to insufficient snow.

  13. RUN
Derry rail trail 4.13 mi 00:45 10:50 pace

First run with Serg in a while. 2 miles out on back in the Yax. Plenty of exposed pavement. My donated Garmin 305 showed full battery at the beginning, but died at 3.13 miles. I rounded up time and... read more

  14. RUN
    Lunch treadmill 3 mi 00:25 08:20 pace

The new years resolutioners have dwindled. See you next year!

  15. RUN
    Body slam 5.38 mi 00:54 10:00 pace

Night run on Rockingham Rec trail as the snow started to fall. The trail was mostly bare with some ice. While walking a long icy stretch near the tunnel, I went sideways and slammed the front of my... read more

  16. RUN
    Middlesex Fells 8.41 mi 01:52 13:16 pace

Skyline Trail. More of a hiking trail than a running trail. Body is beat up, but no concussion!

  17. RUN
    Plush neighborhood 10.22 mi 01:37 09:26 pace

My Olympus 1.0 outsole modification is a success. Shoegoo'd rubber chunks up front reduced the ramped profile and have turned these into pillowy happy places for my feet which couldn't be... read more

  18. RUN
    Bad trail 2.02 mi 00:21 10:15 pace

Massabesic main trail night run. Too many frozen footprints in the icy crust caused ankle twisting madness. Too risky, even with my ankle brace on. Planned 5 turned into 1 out and back retreat. Liv... read more

  19. RUN
Musquash thin crust pizza 6.19 mi 01:14 11:57 pace

The thin crusty snow was perfect for microspikes. My first time on Three Sisters trail, one of the recent additions.

  20. RUN
Morning in the Neighborhood 7.29 mi 01:09 09:29 pace

Aches that I usually don't feel on trails made themselves known on this pavement pounder.... but I'll take it!
