Terrible "run." Of the three miles I went today, MAYBE one was actually running. My feet aren't hurting so bad today, but my shins are now. I think its time I finally listen to you g... read more

What everyone has said. Maybe you should consider a down-loadable schedule that increases mileage and gives you variety in type of run/workout. Runners Worls have some good ones that ensure you don't increase mileage by more than 10% per wk. Good luck with boot camp :)

I definitely agree with everyone about the rest! You may also want to look into stretching. I swear by stretching after my runs and on my off days too!

Just a slow walk today. Got those mysterious side stitches though, despite it being a leisurely (and at times brisk) walk. Also, made the mistake of taking my dog, and it was much too hot for him. ... read more

Not to criticize you or anything, but you went from a 3 mile week to a 42 mile week! That's an extreme jump for anyone. Just take it easy for a bit and feel better. Injury is your worst enemy and consistency is your friend.

If it's hot out, maybe you're dehydrated. Something that might help! Still good to get out and walk!

I know you mentioned breathing, but have you tried switching breathing with your feet sync - meaning that when you breathe automatically, you always breathe when either your right foot hits or your left foot hits. If you switch sides sometimes that helps.

The diaphragm is a muscle and there are ligaments in your abdomen as well, so it's possible that if you strain one of those you'll feel it for a while. Just take it easy and you should be a-ok. =)

Don't be afraid to back off. Here's a good example. In marathon training plans, which is as intense as training gets, there are "step-back" weeks. You push increasing miles for two weeks, and then on the third week you run reduced miles, recover and build strength to push forward for two more weeks. Training physiology shows that strength isn’t built during the “push” but on the “recovery” part of the cycle.

Take it easy and give yourself more recovery time. It helps your body adjust to increased mileage while you build up your base. Thanks for the add and good luck, you're doing very well:-)

Walking is a great recovery tool that is not used frequently enough, in my humble opinion! Listen to what your body says and if you're hurting or fatigued, take a break and go easy on yourself!
