I don't plan to remain absent from DM for too much longer. I have my achilles back now. I just don't know if I have the nerve to find out how badly out of shape I am.
Welcome back!

My advice-take it slow as hell. Every time I get jacked up I try to come back too fast. Start with a frustratingly low per week mileage and bump up by no more than 10% every week. It sucks for a month or so, because you're barely doing anything, but it's worth it.
Then again, my injuries have all been muscles, not tendons so what do I know.

John T., it's been more like a year, but it looks in the end like my achilles issue was actually a manifestation of gout.

Eff you still, Achilles. That is all.
Run was short/slow. Achilles was no problem.
Pretty long ride with friend and coworker DJ. DJ is a death metal vocalist. I tried to record a video of him smoking and inflating his bike tires, but it didn't work out.
Achilles still not healthy, but better.
Good thing its getting better. One stubborn injury!!

I'm almost ready. Not accustomed to the idea that I will likely have some day after pain indefinitely.

Had to bike to the grocery store to deliver a spare set of keys, because my wife locked her in the car there. :) Achilles will probably be sensitive tomorrow.
Take care of your achilles -- feel better.

Still no running. Still having issues with my achilles. I've thought I'd be running again numerous times now. Going to try some biking, but that was causing issues also previously, so we&... read more

You must have had quite a tear or something for it to take that much healing with as much rest as you've given it. Rooting on the sidelines with you until we're ready to join in on the fun.

Have you had a massage or acupuncture? Both help me stay healthy (massage more regularly than acupuncture.)

I feel like a stranger here now. I've been injured so long, I'm starting to get peripheral aches/pains for inactivity!
Nice to see you Mark!

I'll be running with a likely permanently thickened achilles tendon, but whatever works.

Well, I have thought my achilles was nearly ready for running quite a few times, only to have issues. It definitely improves over time, but only slowly. I should never had let it go chronic. I... read more

Keep on doing really deep tissue massaging on that achlles! Really works to break down scar tissue so the same injury don't come back...I was out 8 to 9 weeks last yr n massaged it daily..hurt like hell but it never came back once I resumed running.

Achilles is starting to feel better these days. Going to give it another week before I try some running. It's been far too long. Also... Electric Miles Android beta is pretty nice. :-)
Glad to hear that Mark.

I'm second-guessing this. Every day is different with chronic achilles tendinitis.

Hey Mark. Sorry to hear that man. Do you have any idea what the onset was? I feel like I'm about down to the tendon with some of the things I'm dealing with right now. Just keep at it I guess...
