Why do people hate runners?
Maybe it's always been the case but I feel like lately, I've seen articles that completely trash runners (us middle of the pack "runners", not the Olympians) ... read more

I can't read these articles, just makes me too mad for no reason---you can ask @MagdelanaFox, who guided a blind woman in NYCM (7 hours) she was just as sore as if she had run it in 4.

Way too funny!! my favorite runner bashing article - the guy pretends to believe NYCM would be a "more compelling event for spectators and runners alike" if limited to just top runners - when the history of NYCM shows exactly the opposite. It only had a few hundred spectators until they moved it out into the city and opened up the the field to the dreaded "sluggards".

I'm in total agreement with Reggie. Let's not gives these fools more credence by talking about them. They obviously don't run nor have trained for any kind of sports competition and therefore do not know what it takes. Leave them in their own messy, overweight pits. At some point they will wonder why they didn't work out more when they were strong enough to do so...

Mission of the day:
Have you ever had "runners high", explain how you felt, and why you think you felt the elusive high?Yes - sometimes on long runs and always when I'm going at a pace ... read more
-
A few times i've got that high feeling(i think it's a high) is when i'm running maybe 8 to 10 miles. I start, then i'm done, just like that it seems, the miles in between, 2 to 6, 7 or 8, just seemed like a blurr, i know i ran them, just sort of felt like a dream of sorts, :).

I have definitely had it, usually when I'm running faster than normal pace for a short run. But other times too, it varies. LOVE IT.

I had it happen to me several times but haven't experienced it recently. Basically i'd be running a longish distance (10+ mi) and i'd get a little fatigued, then it just kicks in! Its like you are in a zone and everything is incredibly effortless, almost like floating. I would agree with the Zen description.

I will say that there is definitely a difference between "runners high" and simply having a good day or being in the zone. Its just hard to explain.

Reasons I think I'm much more sore/tired than at my last two marathons:
1) I ran (well, run-walked) Chicago a month ago.
2) I had planned on run-walking NYC marathon in 6.5 hours and therefore did ... read more1 person liked what June said-
