Wow.
The sun was just beginning to peek over the horizon as I headed out for my run this morning. I think just about every bird in the state of Indiana must have been awake and singing as their songs were loud and strong. It was beautiful out there - 65 degrees and a little humid, but cool enough that even without a breeze it was really comfortable.
This morning was one of those runs where everything comes together. My legs felt strong and my lungs felt strong and for a brief 30 minutes before the chaos and craziness of life kicked in, everything was right in my world. I had two bunnies pace me for about a quarter of a mile and I watched and smiled as they leaped and bounced across lawns as I moved along the road. There was a couple out for an early morning walk, an older man walking his dog and another runner but otherwise it was just me and the dawn.
I'm the first to admit that I'm not likely to ever become a full convert or subscriber to running the morning. I love my afternoon runs, if nothing else, because I get to spend time with The Munchkin and during the summer I actually like running in the heat of the day. What I would have missed though, if I hadn't gotten up and out the door this morning, was seeing an AMAZING moon as it was starting to set - it was HUGE against the western sky and reflecting the pinks of the rising sun. It was so breathtaking that I stopped for a few moments to watch, give thanks, and be grateful for all that I have.
And as I rounded the corner of the street where I live on my last stretch toward home, Bon Jovi's "Story of My Life" started to play.
This is the story of my life
And I write it everyday
I know it isn't black and white
And it's anything but grey
I know that no I'm not alright, but I feel ok cos
Anything can, everything can happen
That's the story of my life
Make it a great week, friends. As always, I remain thankful for each of you and what you bring to my life.

Nice! I understand the afternoon thing....I like my afternoon rides for so many reasons that I would not like to give them up for anything, but there is a magic in the morning that one misses when you don't get out early. I love your descriptions in the run report...conveys a feeling I know quite well. I too have experienced that smile that comes easily when seeing things like your bunnies.

Fantastic morning miles! You had a super pace too--and I was anti-morning run for a long time, but after a summer of running, I switched up to morning runs in the summer, spring and fall and back to afternoon runs in the winter. Mine's all about keeping the Bean warm/cool enough.

You know I've always heard red sky at night, sailor's delight. Red sky ay morning, sailors take warning. So let's check the weather and see what it brings us. Great run today joy! Solid pace. I'm glad that for at least 30 minutes all was right in your world.

Our bunnies just run away as we approach.... Or pummel our vegetable garden. No pacer bunnies for us! Sounds like a wonderful run in every possible way!

Great run Joy with a nice progression on the pacing. You describe perfectly what's great about morning runs. Believe it or not, the same feelings can be even stronger on a cold winter morning, especially with a light snow.

Great post. Music speaks volumes, you just need to be present and aware. In the moment. Always a challenge to do as a mother, but so worth it. Glad you got this in. :)

Nice post and run. I love the pacer bunnies. I've seen a lot of those where I run lately, they're usually too timid to stay with me long, they usually turn a different direction once they're convinced I'm following them.
