So good to be back on the bike again. I was planning on a 30 mile road but it turned into a long one. Caught up with tow other cyclists on the climb up Patterson and shared the road with them today. They were long lost friends and rediscovered one another after 25 years out on the road. Really cool story and a great pair to ride with. This is why I love cycling. We crossed the summit of Patterson and avoided our first rain squall. At the bottom we turned north and road the climb over North Flynn road which crosses the Altamount pass. Back in Livermore we parted ways but I hope to see them again on the roads and DailyMile. On my way to a coffee shop I discovered I had a flat so stopped for a sandwich and flat repair. Turns out I had a cut in the tire so I resorted to putting a folded dollar bill inside the tire to protect the tube. It typically works and this time was no exception. The return route took me back over Patterson pass to finish out the day for 3700 feet of climbing. Avoided all three thunder storms in the area. The Droid comes in handy on rides like this: GPS tracking, photos, video, real time weather, and chat messages to update mission control. All in all a great day back on the bike. So thankful to be riding again after two weeks off.
