Three more weeks of PT on the calf since we are making progress. I told the therapist that I would be running the next two days (at least) to see how the calf holds up. Another nice morning to run. Streteched out the calf and had 10 min slow jog warmup and cooldown around 25 min easy pace running. Calf was really stiff after PT, so it took the entire warmup time to finally loosen. Splits:
Mile 1 - 10:35
Mile 2 - 9:42
Mile 3 - 9:06
Mile 4 - 9:58
Last half - 11:08
Calf really tightened up once I stopped, so I stretched and iced. Feels fine now. We'll see how it goes tomorrow - will try for 2 hrs. Happy Friday!

Nice run Frank. Glad the calf finally loosened up. Hope it feels okay tomorrow!

Iced and stretched? You're way more patient than me! Way to listen to your body! Good miles!

Great work Frank, sounds like progress, hang in there. Calf is one of those that certainly tightens up regularly.

You are doing great Frank but I worry that jump to 2 hours is perhaps not a wise decision?

You're making great progress, Frank! Be careful tomorrow.

@Tracy - 2 hrs is the goal, but I'd also like to walk without limping too much after finishing, so it may not be 2. If I am really hurting in the morning from running the past two days, it may be a zero.
I may have to save the 2 hr run until the half marathon a week from Sunday, but I'm not planning to run 2 hrs in that race either
:-)

Nice run Frank. I'm glad you're planning on listening to your body and aren't dead set on the 2 hours, because as Tracy mentioned, that does seem like quite a jump!

Great news your leg is coming around. Nice job on your miles today!

You'll find that the calf usually loosens up when you run, the challenge is whether it gets better or worse when you are not running. Nice job.

Nice miles for you... i laughed at the idea of you just telling the PT person you are running LOL...

@Krista - right calf is perfect, left not so much. Hot raceday may be a blessing in disguise since it isn't the BIG race of the year.

As a fellow runner with calf issues, I feel your pain. It is frustrating, but you sound like you are doing all the right things. Best to you.
