Ran in my VFF's again. Decided to transition into them real slow based off some helpful advice from others. I did not totally destroy my calves this time which is good!!

Calves were still sore from my run last night, but since I ran in my normal running shoes it didn't bother me as much. It's crazy how many different muscles I worked with the Five Fingers... read more

Great job and definitely take your time switching over. I haven't crossed that bridge yet but definitely thinking about it!

I don't mean to nag, but you shouldn't run more than 10% of your typical running distance for the first 2–3 weeks. It sounds maddening, but I regret not cutting my mileage down when I first started running in my VFFs last year. I *completely* blew out my ankles after two weeks (overuse injury) and had to enlist friends to do the Lexington Road and River Relay with me (which I'd originally planned to do solo) since I couldn't even walk let alone run or bike. Go easy!

Thanks for the input everyone! Yeah I only ran 1.75 miles in them. This run I did wearing my Saucony's because my calves were still on fire. I can see why a slow transition is a good idea. I was thinking about doing 2 short runs a week in them and then doing my longer runs in my Saucony's. Maybe I should cut it back to just one run a week in them to start? I guess I could always just go run a mile or so loop in them and then switch shoes and go back out so I can still get my miles in. Any thoughts?

Wanted to kind of push my pace. Tired of running slower all the time haha. But from talking to people that have gotten hurt, slower is better when training.
