      hey, I have a secret for when my Garmin has died a couple times. I can figure out the distance myself (runningmap.com or gmaps-ped.com). I just let the watch be dead, but then when I get to the end, I turn it on for one "last gasp," start it and stop it. Garmin gives you an "elapsed time" from when you first clicked "start" to when you last clicked "stop." There's your time. :-)
