Google and Red Cross have set up people finder sites. Cell coverage is spotty at best and has been turned off by authorities at times. http://safeandwell.communityos.org/cms/index.php or http://google.org/personfinder/2013-boston-explosions/

Well thank goodness my friend is ok. He was only about 1/2 a block away from the first blast. Way too close. I feel terrible for the victems and their family and friends.
