Just completed my first 11-miler ever! Was supposed to be 10, but I decided ahead of time to go for 11 so I would be a little more secure come race day (this was my last long run before the half). During the run, I got really, really hot and was starting to worry about my ability to complete 11 miles, let alone 13.1. Now that I am back at the house and see that it is 72 degrees in the sun and that I was wearing a black long-sleeved compression shirt with dailymile over the top, I see why it felt so hard . . . so maybe it wasn't so bad after all. This is another one of those instances where I want the "tired" face for for how I felt during the run, but the "great" face for how I feel about completing it. My mind keeps trying to drift into, "Geez that was hard. How are you going to do 13?" But, I have to keep trying to push it into "Running is about testing your limits and achieving new goals. You thought you were going to drop dead on the sidewalk, but did you? . . . So there you go." Also, I should note that I mapped the route ahead of time with Gmaps, and then checked it on here afterwards, but during the run, Nike+ said I was only at 10.85 when I got to the car. I even ran an extra little loop, just to make sure, so that I why my pace looks way faster than usual. I guess I need to recalibrate--it'd be cool if I really was doing these long runs at that pace (and also running further than I thought!)

Awesome run! So great to break through another distance barrier. Also, I don't trust Nike+ (or any step-based system) for distances. There's just no way every stride is exactly the same length. I know some people say they have theirs dialed in, but I think Google Maps is closer to the truth. Whatever the case, though, no doubt in my mind you ran 11 miles! :)

heck ya Lindsay!!! I'm so proud of you! can't believe our big race is only 12 days away but we're definitely going to kill it! also could you record yourself saying things like "running is about testing your limits" and "you really aren't going to die" that I can intermix in a playlist for the race?? I think i might need to hear some of those things to make it through 13 miles!!

That's a humdinger of a route. Schlepping up Lakeview at the 9-mile point is a day's work. It's not even that steep...it just goes on and on and on...
