I felt extremely slow for the first mile or so. I just felt kind of off. I've got a slight cough/cold creeping up on me so I felt like I was breathing through a straw. When I checked my stopwatch after mile 1 however, I noted that I was on pace to beat my personal best. I was perplexed. I felt slower than ever. My second lap was no better. Pace dropped off considerably. My knee started acting up with a quarter mile or so left, so I didn't even sprint it out. Imagine my amazement when I looked down to see I'd bested my own personal record by 2 seconds. I was stunned. All the wheezing and foot smackin' and I came up fast?

If it weren't for the knee pain, I would've been thrilled. Instead I walked around cursing my gimpy joint.
