great Chinatown Firecracker 5k 3.1 mi 00:35 11:14 pace

This was a really special race for me, because my fiance ran it with me. We've ran the same races, but never together (he's not even a runner). Since I'm nursing a foot injury (whoopie my foot felt FINE and dandy!) I told him I'd run with him. We ran pretty far but he needed to walk a few times. When he was out of breath we held hands and I rubbed his back and told him he was doing great - and then he ran more. We crossed the finish line together in 34:52.9.

My new Hoka Bondi shoes felt amazing. I'm not sure if it's because they're new, or it was like running on fluffy pillows that didn't hurt my feet... but after 2 weeks of not running, my feet felt great!

One of our friends is a 19 year old boy who needs some direction in his life, so we started signing him up for these runs (well, I find them - another friend pays for him). I'm so proud of him, running the 5k in 20:26.9. He's like our racehorse.

While I'm glad my fiance Omar and I don't run together all the time - today was a lot of fun.

Thanks you guys! It was tons of fun! I really missed running! I was supposed to do the 10k but with my foot on the mend I was so happy to run at all - and the 5k felt great! Jenny/Terry it was great to see you - sorry we didn't wait for you guys but I'm glad we caught up with you before we left. I guess next year we'll all have to run the 10k ;)

:) It was so sweet! When Omar had to walk he held my hand! *swoon* I got a co-worker and some non-runner friends to join us too, so it was a happy-good-feeling day!

Awesome on both counts. Run with Omar and no foot pain! Look at it from the perspective of you ran slower to let your foot recover and were rewarded with some quality time with your man. Win-win.
