Yeh well I did it the opposite way and got a stress fracture a week before last years' half marathon in Wheeling. That break cost me at least 15 mins. on my time.

yeah...I tried a barefooter for a bit a few months back. a half mile and my feet were on fire...not actually on fire...they felt like fire was consuming them from the ground.

Jay almost all of us have our too much too soon barefoot injury story. It happens.

And now I don't feel so bad taking my time with the barefoot stuff; for a while I've wondered if I'm being overly cautious. Glad to hear I'm not.

Karen, no such thing in transitioning (overstatement but you get my point)

Truth! I went just 1 mile the first time and scared the shit out of my husband when I came home covered in blood blisters! Eww. One mile is too much. Half a mile is too much, for a beginner. I remember that first barefoot 5k after months and months of conditioning was like running a marathon, it was such a huge achievement!

I felt 100% barefoot transitioned when I hit 10k at the park running sub 6 min km's on asphalt, bark trail and some sandy gravel with no foot damage of any sort. This happened in May of this year after at least 24 months maybe more like 30

Yup. I know I've got my own "too much too soon" barefooting story. .... Why is it we don't seem to listen?

With you and Piet giving me the stink eye, I wouldn't dare go any farther.
