good Quiet Swim 1800 yd 00:51 50:19 pace

Quiet evening swim at the Y. 8 pm really is the best time to get a lane to yourself. Is it wrong that I wore my p.j.s home from the gym?

Race Pace Focused
Warm up: 250 breast stroke; 4 X 25, 2 X 50 with breathing drills in between each lap
Main Set: 3 X 300 at 1 mile race pace (no clue what that is for me?) sighting every 25 meters; set TT at 1:20

For the remainder of the swim I played around with different stroke rates and bilateral breathing vs. always breathing on the right side, while counting my strokes/lap. Found 1:26 to be the point where strokes/lap increased with stroke rate. I wasn't timing each lap, but I'm curious at what tempo I stop actually swimming faster. The fewest strokes/length I counted was 23.
