Lake Grapevine Snake Island loop 2041.6 yd 00:54 46:27 pace

Overslept but went anyway - got in as Jason got out. Was going to do .5 mi, but the water was so smooth, I had to do the island. Not as fast as Friday; not sure why because it should have been fast... read more

I know, but I can't not swim when that happens. Not enough time left. Maybe it will wear me out so I can go to sleep before 1am.

Where do you start the swim for the Snake Island loop?

Chris, we start from the boat ramp at Oak Grove Park, which is at the end of the road past the parking lot for the soccer fields, and past Trawick Pavillion.

You were smokin the first part, couldn't believe it took me 80 or 85 to catch you. Florida is not going to be near that hot.

I drafted way more than I solo'd or pulled, until I couldn't hang on to anyone. Can't do that in FL. Gotta get serious about this training stuff.

Lake Grapevine - Snake Island 2147 yd 00:53 43:34 pace

1st time in the water since River Cities. Got my Snake Island badge. This was my longest OWS swim ever. Gotta start ramping up quickly!

    GCG 31.07 mi 01:35 19.6mph pace

There was some drafting, but HR was still higher than my solo rides. I work harder riding with a group. Top speed 36.7 - felt good!

Picking up the last mile through Lakeview last night got me a flat, so decided this is close enough.

Walking the last .5 mi instead of changing a flat makes it a brick. Legs/ankles swelled up after drive to New Braunfels, & still haven't gone down. This wasn't enough sweat to do it. ... read more

Adding the ride to Mad Duck since I didn't start the Garmin until leaving there.

In the pack at the start, but went on at the 1st stop & added Sand Bass Hill.

Sam not Sand. You are thinking about swimming too much and that is good.

It will be even better when I'm doing it too much instead of thinking about it:)

I read some studies that said they found real easy rides the day after or later same day were very beneficial but they don't know why.

Debby I heard it wa very hot so you did well given the heat. Have done 19 centuries this year and the hot ones are hard. And yes after every one I think do I have enough to do a marathon and the answer is alway no. But my IM friends tell me that when in an IM your mind thinks differently.

Pretty proud of this 1...1st OWS to mostly swim (instead of dog paddling, backstroking, and hanging on to kayaks.)
