good fartleks in the fog 8 mi 01:19 09:55 pace

Another morning in shorts as it was about 50 but a really heavy fog sitting out there after rain yesterday evening and into the night. Today's workout was some speedwork: fartleks to be exact. The plan was to do them at a 3:2 minute ratio (hard:recover) with the hard portion around half marathon pace, 4 miles of fartleks total. Also was told to take a hilly route.

Had the perfect route in mind and headed out warming up for 2 miles before starting the fartleks. Kept the hard portions in the 8:20 to 8:30 range and it was a mix of hell and fun as some started on steep inclines while others were on flat or downhill sections. Even took a wrong turn which was awesome. Always nice to get lost in suburbia. Eventually found my way and finished up and cooled down for 2 miles. I love love love this type of speedwork and was glad to jump right in at a 3:2 ratio. Good times.

Nicely done. Fog makes it difficult. Glad you stayed safe.

I always find myself running faster when I get lost because a) because I get excited exploring and speed up or b) cause I end up in a sketchy area and run to get out of it faster. Either way I get a killer workout!
